Accessibility Statement

Our conformance with WCAG 2.2, the legal framework that applies to our work, and how to report an accessibility barrier.

Last updated 17 May 2026

Marino Software is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement covers marinosoftware.com and the standards we hold ourselves and our delivery work to.

Compliance status

This website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

In addition, the following Level AAA criteria are met throughout the site:

  • 1.4.6 Contrast (Enhanced): body and secondary text meet a ≥7:1 contrast ratio against their background; large text meets ≥4.5:1.
  • 1.4.8 Visual Presentation: body line-height is 1.65, paragraph spacing is at least 2× line-height in prose, and long-form text is constrained to ~68 characters per line.
  • 2.4.9 Link Purpose (Link Only): link text alone describes the destination, with aria-label or visually hidden context added where the visible label would otherwise be ambiguous.
  • 2.4.10 Section Headings: every content section carries a heading, with a single H1 and a logical H1 → H2 → H3 hierarchy on every page.
  • 2.4.12 Focus Not Obscured (Enhanced): keyboard focus is never hidden behind the fixed or sticky header.
  • 2.4.13 Focus Appearance: a 3 px solid focus ring with a 3 px gap is shown on every interactive element, in a colour that meets ≥3:1 against every surface in use.
  • 2.5.5 Target Size (Enhanced): every interactive control is at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels.

The European harmonised standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 is adopted by reference for the corresponding success criteria.

Non-accessible content

A small number of items are not fully WCAG 2.2 AAA compliant and are documented here in the interests of transparency.

  • Brand accent magenta (#fe437d) is used at small sizes as a decorative kicker label above section headings. Its contrast against cream surfaces is 2.85:1, below both the AAA 7:1 and the AA 4.5:1 thresholds for small text. The information conveyed by the kicker is always repeated at AAA contrast in the heading immediately below; the kicker is therefore treated as decorative under WCAG 1.4.6.
  • Reading level (WCAG 3.1.5 AAA) is not met on technical content covering DORA, FHIR, SMART on FHIR, ISO 27001 and similar regulated-sector subjects. These articles are written for the professional audience that needs them.

The following AAA criteria do not apply to this site and are therefore out of scope:

  • 2.2.6 Timeouts: the site has no authenticated sessions or timed forms.
  • 1.2.6 Sign Language and 1.2.9 Audio-only (Live): no live or pre-recorded video is hosted directly on this site.

Marino Software is an Irish private limited company. The accessibility framework relevant to our work includes:

  • WCAG 2.2 (W3C Recommendation): the international standard adopted as the conformance basis for this website.
  • EN 301 549 V3.2.1: the European harmonised standard that adopts WCAG for public-sector ICT.
  • EU Web Accessibility Directive (2016/2102): accessibility duties for public-sector websites and mobile applications. Marino’s delivery work for public-sector clients (Iarnród Éireann, Met Éireann, RTÉ, the National Treasury Management Agency, the Health Insurance Authority and others) is built to meet this Directive.
  • European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882: applies from 28 June 2025 to private-sector services in e-commerce, banking, transport and ICT, among others. Marino’s delivery work for clients in scope of the EAA is built to meet it.
  • Disability Act 2005 (Ireland), Sections 26–28.
  • Equal Status Acts 2000–2018 (Ireland): non-discrimination on disability grounds.
  • UK Equality Act 2010: relevant where we deliver software for UK organisations.

The marinosoftware.com corporate website is itself outside the strict legal scope of the Web Accessibility Directive and the European Accessibility Act (we are a private B2B consultancy, not a consumer service in the EAA-scheduled categories). We commit voluntarily to AA plus selected AAA conformance as a credibility signal to our clients and as a demonstration of the standard we deliver to.

How we approach accessibility

We aim to provide inclusive designs that welcome all users, rather than relying on separate experiences for users with specific disabilities where possible. Factors like age, cognitive ability, context and location are considered by default as part of our work.

Accessibility checks are incorporated into our delivery and editorial workflow on every project. Our Accessibility team, drawn from each functional department, conducts bi-monthly review meetings.

We welcome reports of accessibility barriers. If you find content that is difficult to use or read, please contact us:

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 17 May 2026 following a self-assessment carried out by the Marino Software design and engineering team. The assessment included:

  • Automated testing using browser-based accessibility tools (axe, Lighthouse).
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing across all primary user flows.
  • Manual screen-reader spot-checks (VoiceOver on macOS, NVDA on Windows) on hero pages.
  • Colour-contrast measurement against WCAG 2.2 thresholds for every text colour pairing in use.

We review this statement at least every six months. The next scheduled review is November 2026.

Third-party content

This statement covers content produced by Marino Software. It does not cover the accessibility of third-party applications, videos or media on other platforms (for example embedded podcast players or social-media content). We favour providers based on their accessibility conformance claims, but we cannot guarantee that all third-party services meet the relevant standards.

Office accessibility

Our offices at 4th Floor, Innovation House, DCU Alpha Campus, Glasnevin, Dublin, D11 KXN4 are accessible to individuals with mobility impairments.
