Marino FHIR Bridge

HL7 FHIR integration. Standards-based interoperability for the clinical environments that demand it.

Connect clinical systems without ripping anything out.

Marino FHIR Bridge is a configurable interoperability layer that translates between HL7 v2, proprietary EHR formats and FHIR R4, so new patient-facing services can be delivered without disturbing the systems of record they depend on.

The problem it solves

Clinical estates evolve in layers, not in clean rewrites. A modern patient app or AI clinical decision tool typically has to integrate with an EHR that speaks HL7 v2, a lab system with its own message format, an imaging archive on DICOM, and a hospital information system that nobody wants to touch. Re-platforming any of those is a multi-year programme. The result is that new services either don’t ship, or ship as data silos.

Marino FHIR Bridge sits between modern, FHIR-speaking applications and the heterogeneous estate they need to talk to. It exposes a standards-compliant FHIR API to the new application and translates each call into the appropriate format for the underlying system, bidirectionally and in real time.

What’s inside

  • Standards-compliant FHIR R4 endpoint, Patient, Encounter, Observation, MedicationRequest and the rest of the core resources, with conformance statements.
  • Connector library, HL7 v2 (including z-segments), DICOM, common EHR formats, and a custom-connector framework for proprietary systems.
  • Terminology mapping, SNOMED CT, ICD-10, LOINC mapping handled in configuration, not code.
  • Auditability. Every translation logged, with full message provenance for clinical governance and regulatory review.
  • SMART on FHIR-ready. Designed to host substitutable clinical apps directly.

Built for clinical reality

  • HIPAA, GDPR and EU MDR-aware.
  • ISO 27001 / 27017 controls.
  • Sits on AWS with end-to-end encryption and private VPC peering to your data centre.
  • Deployable as a managed service or to your own cloud tenancy.

Where to start

A two-week assessment that maps your current message flows and produces a costed delivery plan for the bridge, including connector scope and SMART on FHIR enablement.

  • Marino Migrate, when your clinical estate needs an AWS migration before the bridge can go live.
  • Marino Optimise, managed operation of the bridge post go-live.
